EWF GUI Admin 1.1.0 Update
I have released an update for EWF GUI admin. I have reduced the resources it requires as well as redone the tray icon. There is now a right click menu and mouse over info tip for the tray icon. On my Dell Mini 9 (1.6GHz Intel Atom w/ 2 GB RAM) EWF Admin uses less than 1% cpu at idle and as low as 2.5MB while minimized to the tray.
This application requires .net to function properly. I recommend the latest version.
New Features in 1.1.0
+ Hover over tray icon tooltip, which has the current cache size.
+ Reduced system resources; Uses as low as 2.5 MB while minimized to tray
+ Reduced system resources; Uses less that 1% cpu on my Dell Mini 9 with the refresh rate set very high (less than 100 ms).
+ Added info to the about screen
Possible Future
+ Change background when EWF is enabled/disabled
+ Further refine refresh system for even better performance

EWF GUI Administrator 1.0.0
- Brian 03/26/09 9:14 am
I have released the initial version of EWF GUI Administrator.
EWF - is a cache based write filter present in Windows Embedded operating systems. It works at a sector level and redirects all writes to RAM. This is particulary useful for several reasons.
1) It allows users to control how changes are made to their computers.
2) It prolongs the life of SSD and other flash based drives (if changes are not commited).
3) It stops SSDs that suffer from slow random writes from shuttering.
It is important to note that EWF's cache can not grow over 512 MB or the system will crash. This is a limitation of the EWF driver and can not easily be overcome. This is where the GUI Administrator comes into play. It can notify you when your EWF cache reaches your predefined limit. It can also automatically take an action when the cache is full.
